२०२२ स्थानीय निर्वाचनमा उनले ९६६ मत प्राप्त गरे तर दुर्भाग्यवश जित नहुन सके । तर पनि महार्जनले आफ्नो पार्टी मजबुत गर्न र आफ्नो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रका मानिसहरूलाई सेवा गर्न काम गरिरहेका छन् ।

महार्जनको राजनीतिक यात्रा नेपाली कांग्रेससंग सुरु भयो । नेपाली कांग्रेस १९४६ मा स्थापना भएको एक पुरानो र प्रमुख पार्टी हो । पार्टीले नेपालका अधिकांश भागमा मजबुत उपस्थिति छ र नेपालका पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री र अध्यक्षहरूलाई पनि उत्पादन गरेको छ ।

महार्जनका मूल्यांकन र समीक्षा सार्वजनिक उपलब्ध छैन किनभने उनी स्थानीय नेता हुन् । तर महार्जनको पार्टी नेपाली कांग्रेसले निर्वाचनमा ठूलो सफलता प्राप्त गरेको छ र नेपालका अधिकांश भागमा मजबुत उपस्थिति छ ।

महार्जनले कुनै प्रमुख विवादमा संलग्न नहुने छैन र उनको नेतृत्वको प्रतिष्ठा अछूत छ ।

निर्वाचनका हिसाबले २०२२ स्थानीय निर्वाचन एक प्रमुख घटना थियो जसमा नेपालका लाखौं मतदाताले आफ्ना स्थानीय नेताहरूलाई निर्वाचन गर्ने काम गरे । निर्वाचनमा नेपाली कांग्रेस, सीपीएन–यूएमएल, सीपीएन–माओवादी लगायतका पार्टीहरूले पनि सहभागी थिए ।
महार्जनले ९६६ मत प्राप्त गरे तर दुर्भाग्यवश जित नहुन सके ।

अन्ततः भिम लाल महार्जन एक समर्पित राजनीतिज्ञ हुन् जसले आफ्नो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रका मानिसहरूलाई सेवा गर्न काम गरिरहेका छन् । तर पनि महार्जनले निर्वाचन हारे पनि मानिसहरूलाई सेवा गर्न र सामाजिक तथा विकासात्मक गतिविधिहरूमा संलग्न रहेका छन् ।
